Navigation devices in vehicles only contribute to traffic safety when they aren’t excruciatingly difficult to use. The driver oftentimes can’t cope with paying attention to the navigation announcements, the traffic news from the car radio, and also turning down the volume on the radio when a call comes in on the mobile.
The i-sotec Auxgate® Easy makes it possible to quickly and easily connect portable navigation devices or mobile hands-free sets to the car radio. The navigation announcements or phone conversations are played back through the front speakers with the sound quality and volume of the car radio system.
The Auxgate® Easy can be connected using the plug-and-go principle: using the provided DIN/ISO adapter, the device can be connected to every radio with an ISO connector. Appropriate adapters are available from i-sotec for over 500 manufacturers’ radios with connectors which are manufacturer-specific. The navigation system ist connected via a 3.5 mm phone jack.
Barely larger than a cigarette packet, the Auxgate® Easy is virtually invisible after installation, as it can easily be mounted under or behind the instrument panel.
Once connected, it regulates the volume of the GPS and radio with the help of the fully automatic priority administration: during the announcements, music is tuned out in the front, and, if desired, it can continue playing quietly in the back. As soon as the announcement is finished, the music starts up again. The ultimate goal of this device is traffic safety, but until now, this comfort it offers was reserved for expensive and inflexible permanently installed navigators.
